The European Institute is a private membership group for Chief Executive Officers, Chief Information Officers, Chief Financial Officers, Chief Operating Officers and Compliance Heads of asset management firms, from traditional institutional managers through to specialist boutiques. Membership provides a peer group networking forum where members share strategic insights and best practice, debate current thinking and compare ideas.

The ability to debate not just topical issues but also longer term strategic challenges has meant that this is one of the most important conferences I attend each year.

Four roundtables

Four annual Roundtable Meetings in Europe provide the main focus of Institute membership. A chance for senior management to interact directly with their peers and hear from leading experts on topics that reflect management priorities. A further roundtable in the US provides an opportunity to compare notes with counterparts stateside.

Feature key regulators and proprietary research, giving opportunity to touch base with peers between roundtables.

Ad hoc events

On topical themes like Mifid II or Technology are hosted occasionally at members request.

Include benchmarking studies which leverage members’ collective opinion on the latest industry developments as well as proprietary white papers and bespoke surveys which reflect critical and timely issues among EI member firms.

Written digest of each Roundtable

Incorporate the results of the confidential electronic voting responses and all presentations to clarify and reinforce what was discussed and to serve as a valuable reference.

Industry barometer

The Institute uses a confidential electronic voting system which allows members to respond anonymously to a series of searching questions.

Avails direct access to your peers and information on their professional backgrounds.

I very much enjoyed the Chief Investment Officer event. As usual, I found it a very effective way to catch up on industry trends, and to exchange with peers. The focused sessions, sustained tempo, and variety of topics make this a “must attend” event, helping myself and fellow asset owners/managers to keep up with the industry.
